The Honda GEAR Is The Subcompact Honda Has To Build

This year's Detroit Auto Show was all about Acuras instead of the core brand, but the Japanese clearly didn't want to leave North America without giving us a new Honda. They choose the Montreal International Auto Show for their premier, so go ahead and blame Canada for getting the first peek at a future we hope Honda embraces.

Designed by Honda's Advanced Design Studio in downtown Los Angeles, the GEAR Concept is a subcompact hatchback aimed at the fashion conscious Gen-Y costumers. Appereantly, it was inspired by fixed-gear bicycles. While I can't see the resemblance, the intentions are clear: Honda wants to give the world a trendy, customizable city car that also keeps being practical and most importantly, affordable for young people. We hope they plan on keeping the Pagani-style quad exhausts as well.

New Corvette convertible images leaked

Pictures claimed to be of the next-generation Chevolet Corvette Stingray convertible have appeared days after the coupe premiered at the Detroit motor show.

The unofficial pictures show that, with the hood down, the only visible differences between the bodystyles is that the cabrio loses the full width rear spoiler, and it appears to have smaller wheels.

Fiat-Chrysler CEO Marchionne Uses Racial Slur for New Alfa Romeo Engine

Alfa Romeo’s return to the U.S. market, which is supposed to revive the historic Italian brand that’s currently on life support, has been announced more times than we can recall, only to be postponed time and time again.

In our 2013 NAIAS review we wrote that, compared to GM and Ford, not to mention foreign carmakers, the Fiat-Chrysler Group presence was underwhelming and we were wondering where Alfa Romeo was.

Fiat 500 Abarth Tenebra and 500 Cativa Concepts on Display in Detroit [Live Photos]

It may not be a standalone brand yet, as reports have suggested, but the 500 family is nevertheless expanding rapidly with five-door minivan and crossover offsoots.

That’s not to say that Chrysler’s Italian partner has left the standard, three-door 500 alone: after introducing the 160HP 500C Abarth and the all-electric 500e at LA last November, today it unveiled two design concepts at the 2013 North American International Auto Show.

Color Me White: Tesla Displays Slightly Updated Model X Prototype at Detroit Motor Show

Tesla’s second model after the Model S all-electric saloon will be the Model X crossover, which was on display at the automaker’s stand at the Detroit Motor Show.

Although we’ll have to wait for the automaker’s press conference to find out more about the seven-seater electric SUV that's based on the chassis and running gear of the Model S, the only visible exterior difference to the prototype that was launched last year is the white, instead of silver, paint and the alloy wheels’ design.

This 2014 Corvette Stingray Can be Yours Virtually For Free

If you had any doubts that GM is attempting to make future buyers of its all-new Corvette Stingray feel younger in one by adapting the car's styling as well as its own marketing efforts to reach the PlayStation and Nissan GT-R generation of youths, look no further than to its connection with the Gran Turismo 5 (GT5) racing game.

After offering GT5 users the chance to drive a camouflaged prototype of the new Corvette C7, a challenge that more than 500,000 people accepted since last November, Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital Inc., the developers of the racing game franchise, are now making the production model available for download.

He might be 66 years old but, apparently, he ain’t "too old for this s**t". Actor Danny Glover will join community leaders from the state of Mississippi who will come to Detroit on Monday, January 14, the opening press day at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, to protest against Nissan.

The actor, who is also an activist since attending university, and the rest of the protesters are renouncing the Japanese carmaker’s treatment of its workers at its Canton Vehicle Assembly plant as “unfair”.

GM Wants New Corvette to be More than a Car for "Successful Plumbers", be a Poster on Kids' Walls

Even though it started as a young American’s dream car, somewhere along the way in its 60-year old history, the Corvette lost its edge and fell behind rivals.

GM execs agree with analysts such as Edmunds’ Jessica Caldwell who say that the ‘Vette is thought today as “an old man’s car”: the data show that last year, through October, around 46 percent of Corvette buyers were 55 years or older compared with just 22 percent of Audi R8 and 30 percent of Porsche 911 clients.
