This one involves an Audi R8 that was apparently immolated on its way to the Parx Supercar Show in Mumbai, India on Saturday. It happened on the city's Bandra-Worli Sea Link bridge in the middle of the day, backing up traffic for hours, according to news reports.
The R8 — a car known to be slightly less fire-prone than other supercars, although it has its moments — had two occupants at the time, according to this account on Demotix. Both escaped in time and were unharmed.
After setting foot on the compact hatchback segment, Germany's premium car brands are now eyeing the sedan category, with Mercedes-Benz being the first to present its proposal in the form of the CLA sports saloon.
Even though Audi told us it would launch an A3-based sedan at the end of 2012, that never happened. Instead, we're now waiting for the premiere of the A3 Sedan to take place at a major international auto show in the coming months before it begins to arrive in showrooms at the end of the year or for some markets, in the first quarter of 2014.
Audi came out with the refreshed A5 Sportback back in the summer of 2011, making it available for sale in most countries before the end of the same year. It's been a while in car-months, but ABT Sportsline has released a comprehensive package for Ingolstadt's sleek liftback model.
The German tuner offers performance upgrades to the handling and engine departments along with cosmetic upgrades for the A5 Sportback's exterior.
There are 75 million 30- to 40-year old consumers in the U.S. right now and, according to Mercedes-Benz USA head of marketing Bernie Glaser, “they have big expectations for products and brands”.
The problem for automakers like Mercedes, Audi and BMW is that these buyers are not able and/or willing to pay the US$40,000 sticker price attached to premium vehicles. We have just snapped a prototype of the new 2014 Audi RS6 Avant testing in and around the Nürburgring track in Germany.
While you have no doubt seen the spy pictures of the RS6 Avant, the new video footage gives us the chance to see and more importantly, hear Audi's super-duper station wagon on the move. It is widely believed, but not officially confirmed, that the new generation of the RS6 in both Avant and later on in sedan trims is powered by a boosted version of Audi's new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that takes the place of the previous model's 571bhp 5.0-liter bi-turbo V10.
Our question is, after hearing the sounds of the RS6 Avant prototype in the footage that follows below, can you tell if it has a turbocharged V8 or a force-fed V10 engine?

In late 2010, Cris Ostberg posted a video of his then 18-month-old daughter enjoying a ride in his Audi R8 Spyder. The clip became an instant hit, however, due to the fact that several people grilled him about the safety and legitimacy of placing a child seat up front, he removed the video - even though it is legal to do so if you switch off the airbags. Some 18 months later, Ostberg has posted a new video of his daughter, who is now about three-and-a-half years old. This time she hops into an R8 V10 coupe and plays around with the gas pedal to hear the 10-cylinder engine roar.
Unfortunately, Ostberg chose not to film his child on the road for obvious reasons…
But just in case someone decides to pop into the comments section to grill him again, here's what he wrote in a posting on the VW Vortex forums:
"Before the fun police gets here, YES, it's legal for her to ride in the front seat. YES, the passenger airbags are switched off. NO, she doesn't know how to nor have the strength to release the handbrake. NO, she's not tall enough to firmly press the brake while simultaneously moving the shift lever which is what it would take to engage a gear."
Big, fast sedans have traditionally been the sole property and ownership of German marquees. If you wanted to be coddled in cozy leather and be able to pull .88 G's on the skid pad, your options were limited. But now the equation has changed a little bit with the F Sport line from Lexus. Instead of resting comfortably in their niche, they've decided to turn up the wick a bit and brawl with the big boys. Those lucky bast...er, guys, at Road and Track set out to test Lexus' newest sport sedan against Audi's A7. Why they chose the A7 instead of the A6, we'll never know. Regardless, they reckon the comparison is pretty close despite the GS350 costing some $15k less. Who comes out on top? Watch the video to find out.
The 2012 BMW 1 Series will debut later this year and will face some fierce competition from Audi’s A3. It is important to be noted that the current generation A3 will be phased next year when the recently unveiled Audi A3 Concept will go into production.
F20 1 Series follows the recent instated BMW design language, and in this case, initial impressions seem to be less favorable.
