Hyundai Building its Own Test Center at the Nürburgring Track

Reaffirming its commitment to compete with the top brands around the world on all levels, Hyundai revealed plans to build a new test center at the Nürburgring track in Germany that will enable the company to develop the driving dynamics, reliability and durability of its future vehicles.

Construction of the new facility, which represents an investment of €5.5 million ($7.3 million at today's exchange rates), is well underway with the Korean carmaker stating that the 3,050m2 building’s location was chosen for its direct access to the famous German circuit.

Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, commented:

“The new Hyundai test centre at Nürburgring is an expression of our intention to focus on improving the customer experience of our vehicles, such as ride and handling – an important consideration for European drivers. The new centre represents a significant investment, and one we expect will significantly contribute to enhancing the perception of the Hyundai brand and our key competitive competence in Europe.”

According to the Korean company, feedback from the tests conducted at the new facility at the Nürburgring, will be used by engineers at it existing R&D centre in Rüsselsheim, Germany for the development of its upcoming models.
