Two Sloppy Accidents in One Stop

How can you rear-end a car that is slowly moving in front of you? Pfff, that's easy; just take your eyes off the road for a split second and keep your foot on the gas pedal, which is exactly what this young Asian lady (she could be from Taiwan, but don't take our word for it) did in her green Nissan sedan.

That's part one of this accident, with part two following only a few seconds later when one of the passengers in the Nissan opened the door on the side of the street knocking down a scooter rider, who…was holding a kid up front.

Opel and Nissan SUVs Drown in Ice

Going for an off-road adventure with an SUV or even a more rugged 4x4 vehicle can be a tricky and dangerous task, especially if you're not an experienced driver. Do it during winter time with lots of snow and ice, and the dangers multiply…

In this video, an Opel Frontera and a Nissan Patrol are seen submerged under water and ice, with a group of men trying to get them out using chainsaws, ropes and a tractor.

Nissan to Build Upcoming VW Golf Rival at Barcelona Plant

Up until last year, the Nissan Group's plan was to have Magna Steyr contract-manufacture a new Infiniti premium compact model based on the Etherea concept in Austria, and build its upcoming Opel Astra and VW Golf rivaling hatchback at its own Sunderland plant in the UK.

In December, the Japanese carmaker announced a change of plans, with the Infiniti model to be manufactured in Sunderland and the Nissan hatch to be produced at another facility in Europe.

Future Cars: CarScoop's Vision of the 2017 Nissan GT-R

Ever since its Japanese launch in 2007 (USA 2008), the Nissan GT-R has gained a huge following and respect with its supercar-bashing performance. Subtle upgrades have been applied over its current lifespan with the aim of keeping Italians, Germans and Americans at bay with its AWD drivetrain coupled to a potent 3.8L twin-turbo V6.

However, the competition will not surrender; cue GM and Porsche with their new Corvette Stingray and 911 models respectively, as prime examples - hence why Nissan is expected to respond again.

Exec Says Nissan Considered Killing Infiniti, has Plans for an "Emotional" (GT-R-Based?) Flagship

It may come as a surprise but the Infiniti Q50 sports sedan may have not made the waves it did at this year’s Detroit Auto Show – in fact, the whole Infiniti brand may have ceased to exist by now, according to Nissan vice president Andy Palmer.

In an interview at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Palmer told Wards Auto that, when he expressed his doubt about whether the group would be better off without Infiniti and its ho-hum performance, CEO Carlos Ghosn “challenged me and said ‘We don’t have to do Infiniti, you can cancel it if you want”.

Actor Danny Glover Joins Activists in Protesting Against Nissan at the Detroit Show

He might be 66 years old but, apparently, he ain’t "too old for this s**t". Actor Danny Glover will join community leaders from the state of Mississippi who will come to Detroit on Monday, January 14, the opening press day at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, to protest against Nissan.

The actor, who is also an activist since attending university, and the rest of the protesters are renouncing the Japanese carmaker’s treatment of its workers at its Canton Vehicle Assembly plant as “unfair”.

This is How the Nissan Juke-R looks on the Streets of Dubai at Night

Another day, another video of the production-intent Nissan Juke-R. After the release of a short film that tells the tale of the GT-R-powered crossover's race against a trio of exotic supercars, Nissan has now published two new videos of the Juke-R in the hands of the Nissan/Playstation GT Academy winner Lucas Ordoňez.

Ordoňez takes the 3.8-litre, 160mph (257km/h) Juke-R for a picturesque ride in and out of Dubai.

Earlier this month, Nissan announced that the Juke-R would be made available to buy in a very limited run on a build-to-order basis. The production models will be fitted with the improved 545hp V6 drivetrain and chassis of the MY12 GT-R (2013MY in North America).

Nissan Teases All-New 2013 Sentra Sedan, to be Unveiled this Summer

2013-Nissan-Sentra

Nissan will mark the Sentra nameplate's 30th anniversary in the States with the presentation of an all-new model that will be unveiled later this summer with sales to start across the country in the fall.

The new Sentra will be based on a new global sedan that is making its world premiere at this week's Auto China 2012 in Beijing. The Chinese market version of the compact sedan is named Sylphy.

"Sentra is the third of five all-new core models we'll be introducing in a 15-month product onslaught," said Nissan North America's senior vice president for sales and marketing.

"The all-new Altima goes on sale this summer and will be followed closely by the all-new Pathfinder and Sentra. And when the next two new models launch in 2013, we will have refreshed 75 percent of our volume, rewarding our loyal owners and attracting new customers into Nissan showrooms," he added.

Along with the announcement, the Japanese automaker released a teaser video clip and images of the seventh generation of the U.S. market Sentra that you can check out after the break.

Wow! Follows Oh No! Nissan Skyline Boost Fail

Any Nissan Skyline that is or is dressed up to look like a GT-R is bound to capture the attention of any gearhead on the road.

Perhaps the passenger of the vehicle with the dashboard camera gave this souped-up Skyline sedan the evil eye or something of the sorts, because as soon the Japanese model passed by and the driver pressed on the gas pedal, he lost control of the vehicle giving the undercarriage an unwanted makeover.

Slide over the break to watch the video.

Moscow Man Tries to Drive Nissan Through a Train Crossing for Pedestrians…

Moscow-Man-Tries-to-Drive-Nissan-Through-a-Train

Today, your daily dose of Russian madness comes courtesy of a stubborn driver of a Nissan Teana sedan (loosely related to the older generation Maxima) who for some reason was hell bent to drive over a pedestrian crossing on a train track in Moscow.

Not surprisingly, the car got stuck on the train tracks and being front wheel drive, he couldn't pedal his way out of this situation. Some by-passers quickly came out to help push the Teana back but as soon as they heard the train approaching they left him to watch the disaster that was bound to happen.

Fortunately, the train crashed right through the car and continued its way without hurting any passengers. According to Russia's Life News, the driver and his passenger took off the (foreign) license plates from the car and fled the scene.

Nissan 240SX Successor Rumored as Scion FR-S Rival

1995-nissan-240-sx

While Nissan is clearly enjoying great success with its 370Z and GT-R models, the Japanese automaker is missing a viable competitor to the upcoming Scion FR-S.59

Even though America never got the chance to enjoy a true Silvia 200SX (powered by a SR20DET), enthusiasts have taken the 240SXs we’ve gotten in America and swapped in the potent 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder. Now Nissan is considering producing a lighter, smaller sports car that could see a revival of the Silvia model.

Shiro Nakamura, Nissan’s design boss, recently said in an interview, “I much prefer smaller sports car. It is the time to look at that. With 370Z, we still don’t know next generation will have a larger or smaller engine.” The designer went on to elaborate that reducing the weight of the next-generation Nissan sports car is a priority.

Given the price range of the FR-S, it would make much more sense for Nissan to revive the SX moniker than to offer a less powerful Z.

“Sports car is a core of Nissan. We … really we have to sit down and work out what the future sports car should be for us,” Nakamura said.

Regardless of whether or not a new model is on the horizon, Nissan is working to lighten its current Z and GT-R models even more. But hey, we would welcome a smaller, lighter, and cheaper Nissan sports car with open arms.

Nissan Juke-R Review [Video]

Nissan-Juke-R-Review

The next review of Nissan’s magical Juke-R concept comes from the guys at Autocar magazine. They get behind the wheel to see what this marriage between a run of the mill crossover and a world class sports car is holding up. The Juke-R is a stupid thing. It even looks like it, just look at that grin on its face. We have to say though, we absolutely love it.

The Juke-R project had no real purpose other than fun. They just wanted to see what happens if they put a GTR engine in the Juke. It’s fantastic.

Nissan Juke-R’s 485bhp 3.8-litre V6 twin turbo engine propels the car from a standing start to 100kph in just 3.7 seconds, before continuing on to a top speed of 257kph. Testing has proved that Nissan Juke-R enjoys supercar handling from a compact crossover, thanks to use of the Nissan GT-R’s suspension and drivetrain as well as an FIA-specification roll cage and unique split rear wing. In a straight line, the GT-R’s more aerodynamic shape ensures that its top speed is higher despite the same power plant being used in each. GT-R also remains lighter than Juke-R due to the roll cage and extra chassis reinforcement that has been required to place the supercar’s components into a Juke body.

Corvette Z06 Chases a Nissan GT-R Around the Track Until it Surrenders

Corvette-Z06-Chases-Nissan-GT-R

What Nissan has managed to do with the R35 GT-R is nothing short of amazing, as the Japanese carmaker's flagship model has become the de facto standard in the sports car world upon which all other vehicles are judged.

Of course, we should never forget that another important factor that weighs in at any type of race is the driver and how capable he or she is behind the wheel.

The video that follows, isn't a race per se, as the drivers of the Corvette Z06 and Nissan GT-R running at the MotorSport Ranch Performance Car Country Club in Texas were probably there to do some hot laps around the track, but still, the chase that ensued makes for a pretty interesting watch.

Get a Car for Half Price on eBay This Week

In the market for a new car and have cash ready to go? You might want to check out a joint promotion between eBay Motors and AutoNation, the largest group of U.S. car dealerships.

From now until March 30th, AutoNation is celebrating the launch of AutoNation Direct by selling vehicles from Ford, General Motors, and Nissan for half off. That’s right, 50-percent off. We took a look over one of the auctions to see what the catch is, and there really isn’t one. There’s no financing involved, so it’s a cash deal only, and upon winning the auction you have to pony up $500 via PayPal. A full payment of the vehicle must be made within three days of the deposit.

Four vehicles appear randomly every day, so you have to keep your eyes out on their auction page. Most of them have been sold within minutes, including a Chevy Volt for $22,615. AutoNation will apparently finish off the promotion with a 2012 Corvette at half off.

750HP Aston Martin vs 626HP Mercedes SLR McLaren vs 560HP Nissan GT-R

750HP Aston Martin vs 626HP Mercedes SLR McLaren

Here's further proof that horsepower numbers can be hugely deceiving. A completely stock Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren with 626-ponies goes up against a lightly tuned Nissan GT-R with a Stage 2 kit and 560-horses and in a separate race, an Aston Martin DBS upgraded with a supercharger by Mansory pushing out 750-horsepower.

To see how the one mile (1.6 kilometers) drag strip race went down, hit the break to watch the short video clip.

Video: BMW M5 vs Nissan GT-R 2012

The BMW M5 and Nissan GT-R are not conventional rivals, but both have around 550bhp, cost nearly £75k and promise brutal performance. So which one wins our series of tests?

Who would have guessed the car with the fastest acceleration would win the drag race? And it was a complete surprise to me that one of the worlds best handling and grippiest cars could beat a 4 door saloon through a sequence of corners.

Amusing video but it's not comparing apples with apples is it? Why not compare the quality feel of the interior or the ride comfort to give the bimmer a chance?

Two very different cars - m5 should really only go up against other super saloons, not a car like the GTR which is a very different proposition...
